Clean energy shouldn't be complicated—and with community solar from PureSky Energy, it's not. Whether you rent your home, have a shaded roof, or just want to save on electricity without installing solar panels, PureSky makes it simple to plug into solar power and enjoy guaranteed savings.

Here’s how community solar works in three easy steps: searching, signing up, and savings.

What Is Community Solar?

Community solar lets you subscribe to a portion of a local solar farm and receive credits on your electricity bill for the power it generates. You’re not installing panels on your property—instead, you're supporting clean, renewable energy that's already being produced nearby.

With PureSky Energy, you get:

  • Guaranteed savings (typically 10% or more)
  • No upfront costs
  • No equipment or maintenance
  • A flexible, no-hassle subscription model

Whether you're in New York or Illinois, PureSky has projects that make solar accessible to everyone.

Step 1: Searching for a PureSky Community Solar Program Near You

To get started, simply head to our Check Availability page and enter your ZIP code. If there’s an open community solar farm in your utility area, we will match you to the earliest available subscription options right away.

PureSky community solar projects are currently available in:

  • New York (serving customers of National Grid and RG&E)
  • Minnesota (serving customers of Xcel)
  • Illinois (serving customers of ComEd and Ameren)

Don’t see an available solar farm in your area? You can join the waitlist and be the first to know when new capacity opens up in your area.

Step 2: Signing Up Is Fast and Flexible

Once you’ve checked availability, signing up with PureSky only takes a few minutes—and it’s 100% online.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Your name and service address
  • Your utility account number
  • A quick overview of your average monthly electricity usage – uploading a bill is the easiest way for us to check.

PureSky’s team will take care of the rest—matching you with a solar project and calculating the best subscription size to maximize your savings.

No panels, no installation, and no long-term commitment required.

Step 3: Start Saving Automatically

Once your subscription is active, your share of the solar farm starts producing electricity that feeds into the grid. Each month, you’ll receive:

  • Solar credits on your utility bill that reduce what you owe.
  • Some community programs have dual billing. In that case, you’ll receive separate PureSky statement showing your discounted solar credit cost. Consolidated billing customers will only need to pay for one utility bill.

For example:

  • Your utility bill = $110
  • PureSky solar credits = $100
  • You pay PureSky = $90
    That’s $10 saved without lifting a finger.

A Simple Way to Make a Big Impact

PureSky customers love how easy it is to make a difference. Whether you’re passionate about sustainability or just want to lower your electric bill, community solar is a win-win.
