Falmouth, MA — September 22, 2025 — PureSky Energy is proud to announce that the Cape Cod Commission has officially approved plans for three new solar projects on the site of the former Cape Cod Country Club in Falmouth, marking a major milestone for clean energy development and environmental stewardship in the region. This approval represents an important step toward creating a more sustainable future while delivering meaningful benefits for the local community.

Together, the three projects will generate up to 13.5 megawatts of locally produced clean energy—enough to power thousands of homes and businesses—while transforming a large portion of the golf course property into permanently protected open space. As part of the plan, approximately 137 acres will be donated to the Town of Falmouth. That includes 42 acres of permanently conserved open space, 1.1 acres of wetlands, and 12 acres of Round Pond. Furthermore, this area will be restored as native pollinator meadows and tree plantings, creating new habitats for local wildlife and reducing the environmental pressures once associated with golf course maintenance. The remaining 83 acres will primarily host the solar arrays and battery storage systems.

This transition will significantly improve local water quality by reducing nitrogen runoff from fertilizers by an estimated 98 percent. PureSky Energy has also committed up to $414,000 over the next decade to support long-term water quality monitoring efforts in partnership with local organizations. In addition to the environmental benefits, the projects are designed to advance energy equity: at least 40 percent of the solar capacity will be dedicated to low- and moderate-income households, who will receive guaranteed 20 percent savings on their electric bills.

The land donation will open new recreational opportunities for the community, including walking trails, open fields, and even a sledding hill, while the project itself will provide local construction jobs and generate new revenue for the town from the lease and taxes. By converting a managed golf course into a source of clean energy, open space, and community benefit, these projects show how renewable energy development can align with local values and priorities.

“This is an exciting moment for Falmouth and for our team,” said Derek Moretz, VP of Development speaking on behalf of PureSky Energy. “These projects will demonstrate that clean energy development can go hand in hand with environmental protection and community benefit, and we look forward to working with the town as we bring this vision to life.”

With this approval secured, the three projects will now go back to the Town of Falmouth to undergo a planning board site plan review, while continuing to engage with residents to ensure the benefits are shared broadly across the community.
